Xbox One outsells PlayStation 4… finally

According to NPD Group data, the Xbox One was the bestselling games console in the United States and the United Kingdom in November, and thus ended the Sony PlayStation 4’s near year-long dominance as the top console.

Microsoft has worked hard to offer enticing deals on the Xbox One in recent months, including a number of new bundles with the build up to Black Friday, but it’s still struggling to compete overall – it was reported in August that the PS4 is outselling the Xbox One by 3-to-1.

Microsoft slashed the price of the Xbox One to just $349 in the US last month. Also, new games such as the hotly anticipated Forza Horizon 2 are certainly helping to fuel sales.

Hardware unit-sales have increased by three percent over last November.

It is these enticing offers which are keeping the Xbox One on the PS4’s tail.

NPD also says that hardware unit-sales have increased by three percent over last November when the PS4 and Xbox One launched. The latest generation of consoles is also outselling the previous generation, which is great news for a market which is supposed to have been affected by the rise of mobile gaming and apps.

All of which is great news for the Xbox One and the gaming industry as a whole. It’s fair to say that gamers have the best range of consoles available than ever before – the Nintendo Wii U, PlayStation 4, Xbox One – not to mention PC gaming rigs which blow all three of those out of the water when it comes to graphics. It’s an exciting time, for sure.
