Apple announces insane earnings for the holiday period

Love Apple or hate Apple, they sure know how to make money and in their most recent earnings report they announced something astonishing: For the December quarter, Apple generated $74.6 (£49.5) billion in sales. To put that into perspective, that’s more than Google made in the whole of 2014 and more than Google and Microsoft made combined. And if you throw Amazon into that mix, Apple still made more money in one quarter than those 3 companies did in a whole year.

But let us not dwell on how far ahead Apple is than other technology companies. That would be unfair of us. Instead, let’s focus on the figures of Apple’s announcement:

iPad Pro / Air Plus to get stylus?

Microsoft’s Surface and Samsung’s Galaxy Note have proven that there are still benefits to a stylus for your average mobile device user. But could Apple be preparing to take the unprecedented step of launching the rumoured iPad Pro / Air Plus / whatever it might be called with a stylus of its very own?

Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities believes so. Ming-Chi Kuo is widely regarded as one of the most accurate Apple analysts in the world – having already predicted the Apple Watch and other products – and his reasoning behind believing Apple will launch a stylus this year is pretty sound.

iPad Air 3 features and release date

iPad Air 3 release date and predicted features

Next year the iPad Air 3 will be launched and with it Apple will be hoping to get lots of people new to tablets spending their hard-earned cash and existing iPad customers to trade up. But with regard to the latter, it’s going to be extra-hard for Apple to achieve this because the iPad Air 2 is just so damn good. Apple Introduces Two New iPhone Models At Product Launch

Apple will probably drop the iPhone 5C in 2015

Think about it.

The Apple iPhone 5C is an underpowered and ugly smartphone. It sticks out like a sore thumb alongside the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, not to mention the iPhone 5S. If there’s one thing Apple will do to the iPhone line-up in 2015, it’s drop the iPhone 5C.

On the plus side, this is Apple’s low-cost handset. It is made from plastic and this is the main reason that it doesn’t cost the same to buy sim-free, or to take out on contract, as its metal-clad brethren. It’s also perfectly usable – it uses mostly the same hardware as the iPhone 5 including the same dual-core A6 processor. iOS is designed as such that it’ll run smoothly on this lower-powered processor, with the caveat that apps aren’t as snappy.

The most wanted iPhone 7 feature: waterproofing

I wonder how many people take their iPhone into an Apple store to have it replaced because of water damage.

Apple’s customer service is top notch, and they are fairly relaxed when it comes to replacing a water-damaged iPhone, but the fact remains that many people do not live anywhere near an Apple store, which makes it inconvenient to pop into one for many people.

Water-damaged iPhone’s and user inconvenience could all be avoided with a simple feature: waterproofing. The Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact are waterproof. Heck, even 2013 handsets like the Xperia Z and Galaxy S3 Active were waterproof.
